“We never look at just one thing; we are always looking at the relation between things and ourselves.” - John Berger

My photographic work explores the negotiation between these two things. Specifically what happens when the fear of vulnerability interferes with the desire for connection? This tension forms the central question guiding my work.

By constructing images, that are simplistic and highly stylized, I seek to control the narrative and establish a boundary between myself, the subjects in my work, and the viewer.

The subjects I choose to photograph are, in many ways, stand-ins for myself and speak directly to the ways I’ve learned to process and understand my own experiences. Dead animals are a way to explore grief; disjointed figures speak to my ever-changing relationship with my own disabled body.
